Privacy policy

Effective 24 August 2026. This is written to be read, not skimmed past. This update adds the anonymous hosted-site funnel counters described below; if anything here changes materially again, the date changes and the change is called out on this page.

What stays on your device

The simulation engine, emulated microcontrollers, local autosave, settings, and unsynced project library run in your browser. You can use the complete core workbench without an account or backend. Clearing site data removes local work, so export anything you care about first.

What optional hosted features send

• Accounts and cloud sync: signing in stores your email, sessions, entitlement and security records. Projects, attached code, firmware, and share snapshots are uploaded when you use cloud save, sync, firmware storage, or sharing.
• AI copilot: your question is sent to Breadboard's backend and Anthropic. When “Project context” is on, the current project and last serial error are sent too; recent turns are sent for follow-up questions. Turn the context option off before asking if you do not want bench data included. Project-generation prompts and repair diagnostics also go to Anthropic. Breadboard stores quota/token/latency metadata and a short prompt excerpt for successful calls, but does not store the full attached project solely for AI logging. Local chat history stays in this browser.
• Anthropic processing: Anthropic states that standard API inputs and outputs are automatically deleted from its backend within 30 days, subject to its published exceptions, and are not used to train models unless the API customer has agreed otherwise. Read Anthropic's current commercial-data retention policy. Do not send secrets or sensitive personal data to the copilot.
• Compilation and real internet: cloud compilation sends source code to the compile service and retains live job data only long enough to return or expire the build. Real-internet mode sends opted-in firmware requests through the secure egress service and records usage and security events.
• Billing: Stripe processes checkout and billing details. Breadboard stores subscription and entitlement identifiers, not card numbers.

What we measure on the hosted site

• Aggregate, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics): page views, country, browser family. No cookies, fingerprinting, cross-site tracking, or account linkage.
• Anonymous funnel counters (a first-party Cloudflare Pages endpoint): totals for a fixed list of hosted-site actions and the low-cardinality page design shown, such as choosing a live example, opening the simulator, viewing pricing, or starting checkout. These records contain no cookie, session or account identifier, email, project, code, URL, referrer, IP address, or raw browser string, so they cannot reconstruct an individual visitor's journey. Cloudflare retains these counter rows for three months. They are disabled for embeds and when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled.
• Error reports (Sentry): when the app crashes, the error message, stack trace, and browser version may be sent so the bug gets fixed. Your project documents are never attached to error reports.

Self-hosted and offline builds can omit hosted services. There is no advertising, fingerprinting, data brokering, or sale of personal data. Service providers process data only to operate the features above.

Your rights

The account menu lets you export cloud account data and delete your account; local projects on this device are kept unless you clear or delete them yourself. For access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions, email [email protected]. GDPR rights are honored.
